Who runs this site
Chinese Music Atlas (Chinese Music Atlas) is a non-commercial reference project about traditional Chinese instruments. It is operated asChinese Music Atlas, with no registered street address or telephone number published. The only contact route is email:hello@chinesemusicatlas.com.
There are no accounts and no forms
The site has no login, no newsletter, no contact form, no comments and no purchase flow. It is built as a set of static pages. Nothing you type or submit reaches the operator, and no visitor profile is created or stored.
What is collected today
As of the last review, the short answer is: nothing, by us and by us alone.
- No analytics. No Google Analytics, no tag manager and no tracking script of any kind is currently loaded.
- No cookies. The site sets no cookies, and reads none.
- No third-party resources. Typefaces are served from this domain rather than a font CDN, and no social, video or advertising embed appears on any page. Links to museum, UNESCO and other cited sources go out only when you choose to follow them.
One honest caveat: the site is hosted on Cloudflare, and a hosting platform normally records ordinary web server request logs. Those logs are produced by the platform, not by this site, and the operator does not currently control or review them. See server logs.

Cloudflare may record request data such as IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp and response status for security and abuse prevention. This is platform behaviour rather than a choice made by Chinese Music Atlas, and it applies to every visitor equally.
Planned but not yet active
The operator intends to add privacy-respecting, aggregated audience measurement using Google Analytics, delivered through Cloudflare Zaraz. It is not switched on yet. If it is enabled, this section will be rewritten to describe the real configuration rather than the intention.
Advertising and affiliate links
No advertising network is in use and no affiliate links are published. Neither Google AdSense nor any Amazon affiliate programme is active. If that ever changes, this section will say so before it happens.
Still to be confirmed
These points are genuinely open. They are listed rather than guessed, because a privacy notice that states a plausible-sounding but unverified retention period is worse than one that admits the question is open.
- The retention period for Cloudflare server logs, and whether the operator can configure or shorten it.
- Which Google Analytics signals will be collected, the retention period that will apply, and whether any form of advertising or personalised advertising personalisation is enabled.
- Whether a cookie or consent banner is required once analytics is live. This depends on the actual data flow and on the reader's jurisdiction - notably the EU/EEA and California - and has not yet been decided against a real configuration.
This notice therefore makes no claim of full compliance with the GDPR or the CCPA/CPRA. What obligations apply, and whether consent must be obtained before analytics loads, depend on the processing that actually takes place and on the law applicable to each reader.
Your rights and choices
You can browse the whole site without providing personal information. If you have a question about data relating to you, or wish to exercise a right such as access, deletion or objection, emailhello@chinesemusicatlas.com. Because the site operates no accounts and no mailing list, there is generally no visitor data held by Chinese Music Atlas to act on; requests about platform-held server logs will be directed to Cloudflare.

If what this site does with data changes, this page changes with it. The review date below is the point at which the statements on this page were last checked against the running site.
